9 year old Zyon June of Gentian Elementary, and representing Liberty Utilities, was the winner of the River City Soap Box Derby on June 8th. Zyon, his family and his derby car will travel to the International Soap Box Derby in Akron, Oh. He will participate in a full week (July 14 - 21) of educational and fun activities with youth from around the globe. We are proud to support Let's Grow Steamx and wish Zyon the best of luck in the international race!
On April 21, 2019, a group of Liberty Utilities’ employees participated in a 5k in honor of Georgia's fallen soldiers who died while serving their country in the Global War on Terror. Proceeds from the race benefitted nine charities created in honor of a fallen Georgia soldier.
On March 2nd, we sponsored and participated in the United Way’s Read and Run Half Marathon and 5K. This event helps to support childhood literacy and improves lives in Hall County.
On Saturday October 27th, Liberty Utilities employees and our state 811 Mascot, Digger Dog, attended Gainesville's annual Trick or Treat on the Trail. We handed out candy and played cornhole with the kids.
On August 4, Liberty Utilities hosted a Touch-a-Truck event in Gainesville. The kids who attended had a blast and our employees had a great time showing off our trucks.
On June 22nd, Liberty Utilities participated in the Stand Down for Homeless and Underserved Veterans in Columbus, Georgia. The Stand Down provides a variety of supplies and services to homeless Veterans including food, shelter, clothing, health screenings, substance abuse referrals, and many other services. Liberty offered same day service for Veterans identified by the Veterans Administration and hosted a booth with personal care items for the veterans.
On June 6th, Liberty Utilities Columbus hosted the Clean Energy Road Show, an event that showcases alternative fuel vehicles by giving professionals and government leaders a chance to listen to energy seminars and participate in ride and drives.
Our Georgia offices have an ongoing partnership and dedicated collaboration with the nonprofit organization House of Heroes Chattahoochee Valley (HOH). They honor elderly or disabled military veterans and their spouses by providing repairs and improvement to their homes throughout the Columbus and Phenix City area.
In April 2018, Liberty Utilities' Employees participated in a fundraiser for the Georgia Mountain Food Bank. Employees painted designs on ceramic bowls to get them ready to be sold. All proceeds from selling the bowls went directly to the food bank.
